What is the Keto Flu?

The keto flu is not a real medical condition.

It is a term people on keto coined for experiencing a combination of symptoms similar to flu.

Keto flu occurs when you enter ketosis while you are on the keto diet if you are low on electrolytes.

This will often create some physical and mental symptoms that are similar to what you experience when you have the flu, which is where the name comes from. The keto flu does not last long and can be remedied simply by replenishing your electrolytes.

However, it can be hard to get through especially in the beginning when you are adjusting to being on the keto diet.

How do you Know you Have Keto Flu?

If you ever had the real flu, then that is quite similar to keto flu.

You may feel lightheaded, dizzy, with body aches, a major headache, your body aches, and heck, you are irritable people will think you are PMSing.

What To Do When You Have Keto Flu?

The fastest way to get rid of the keto flu is to replenish your electrolytes, as this is most often the cause.

This is because being on keto makes you want to pee a lot of times.  This may make you lose electrolytes.

In addition, in your new diet, you may not be getting enough salt and potassium.
