Hopeless romantic that I am, and since it is the LOVE MONTH, y’all (HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!), I took a poll among my friends (although the results are heavily influenced by me lol).  So, here are my:

5 WAYS TO WIN A GIRL’S HEART

Red heart You must believe in romance.

You must have faith in destiny, in an all-encompassing love that is written in the stars, in the powerful thread that forever binds two people who are meant for each other.  You must also be able to declare that you believe in all the above with a straight face, without trying to choke or farting a/f.

Red heart You must have a way with words.

You must write poetry – real poetry.  Naah, not really.  You don’t need to be mushy, or you don’t need to be corny: “Roses are red, violets are blue; I am awesome and you smell like poo” doesn’t count.  You don’t need to sound like a dictionary and your words don’t even have to rhyme.  What counts is that your words have got to come from the heart to make it worth my time. Of course, knowing how to find the perfect musiciansfriend price match for my little brother wanting a ukulele would also help.

Red heartYou must be well-groomed.

Over the years, I have learned that there is so much more to life than cute boys.  Farther down the road, I discovered that “cute” is a relative term, and that what is essential is invisible to the eye.  But despite these truths, please keep in mind that good grooming often equates to attention to detail – and a guy who pays enough attention to the things that matter will most likely pay enough attention to me.

Red heart You must surprise her.

Of course, “surprise “ is also a relative term.  Some guys are so unpredictable that they become predictable.  Some guys will show up three hours late for a date and call it a surprise.  Guys like these are, to put it mildly, idiots.  A proper surprise takes careful planning and purposeful effort…or at least an endearing spontaneity that will cover up for the lack of careful planning and purposeful effort.

Red heartHe must show his feelings.

Whether he does it through a grand gesture that may make my world spin, or through a simple compliment that he delivers in a barely audible squeak, he must be man enough to actually make the first move.  Because even in this modern day and age that celebrates ambiguity and allows people to never say what they mean or mean what they say, every girl deserves the kind of guy who will not leave her guessing.
