how to maintain a positive attitude

Sometimes, no matter how much effort you put into a situation life just happens and everything crumbles and collapses around you. There is no specific reason for it, no pattern or law that governs these things. Bad things happen and there is little we can do to stop something that spins out of control.

When something bad happens and you’re having a hard time coping with it there are ways to alleviate the pain.

We hope these tips will be of use to you as you fight difficulties ahead of you:

Examine your troubles

Analyze the core of your troubles and see where the depression is coming from. Find out what the underlying pain is and why you feel that way. Identifying that part of you is essential in understanding your emotions and how you can subtly push them in the right direction after the event has occurred. The root of the problem must be addressed before you can move on. If that was because of a bad breakup or
something similar you must come to terms with the solution taken by your or your ex, to understand the underlying currents and the reasons for what happened. Then you need to forgive yourself, finding a reason to move on and to live anew.

Don’t give up

When you feel down and out, broken and beaten by life these words may sound like a true cliché, but deep down inside you know you can do this. You know and everyone telling you to get a grip already knows that things could always be immeasurably worse by far.

This may not always help you in getting over things, but its a start and you deserve all the support you can get. Even though such words may mean a little at first in time you will find out and understand that your situation has opened possibilities and because of it you will come out stronger, both emotionally and mentally. This experience will serve to guide you in the coming years and you will know something others don’t know.

Take care of yourself

This is probably a time in which you will feel like overeating on sweets, ice cream or downing glass after glass of hard liquor. Everyone tries to find a way to escape from emotions more or less and those who face their troubles head-on are truly rare.

You can do better than that for yourself however.

How? By doing something positive instead of wallowing in self-pity and depression.

Pets are wonderful for soaking up all of those feelings of misery. Play with your pet, give them love and they will love you back. Cats and dogs are especially good at sensing your emotions and they will be interested in how you feel if you have a strong enough connection with them.

It will certainly not solve your problems, but it will reduce the stress you feel and they will make you smile by being who they
are. Make sure you eat a healthy diet and avoid junk food as this will only extend the cycle of feeling terrible. Alcohol should also be avoided in large quantities as it will not help you achieve anything.

Cut down on caffeine

Drinking too many beverages containing caffeine will boost your negative emotions chemically.

Although you may feel a rush of energy at first it is usually followed by the “crashing” feeling which then opens the way for further depression. Avoid these drinks and focus on positive activities instead such as exercise, hobbies, music, seeing your friends and getting enough sleep.

Seek help

This is the last possible solution for when you feel you just can’t take it anymore. Sometimes we need the emotional support of friends, family and if bad comes to worse that of a therapist. The last one should be the absolute last choice as you don’t really need chemically-induced help if you can handle the pressure with thehelp of your loved ones.
